Walkin’ On Sunshine Promotion Hopes to Spur Dog Adoptions

PASADENA, Calif. (April 24, 2025) – – Pasadena Humane is taking a small step toward normalcy following months of disruption from the Eaton Fire. Since early January, the shelter’s operations have been significantly impacted as many kennels have been housing pets for families displaced by the fire. Monday, April 28 marks a milestone as prospective adopters are welcome to explore the kennels freely and find their perfect match.

To celebrate this small but impactful shift, Pasadena Humane is waiving all dog adoption fees from April 28 – May 3 with a promotion entitled “Walkin’ On Sunshine”. Adoption hours will remain 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with a slight twist.  Each day the shelter will have “walk-in adoptions” from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., during which potential adopters can stroll through the kennels to make a connection with their new best friend.

Earlier times of day will be reserved for “concierge” service. From 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., adopters will be escorted to the meeting points for interactions with the pets they hope to adopt while avoiding disrupting the owned animals still being temporarily boarded at the shelter.

“We have to balance what is best for those animals still here for emergency boarding with the desires of our adopters,” says Izzy Nidetz, Director of Placement at Pasadena Humane. “While it has been a challenge, we are thankful that the community has been so gracious while we work our way back to our ideal; interested adopters being able to see more of the pets they want to adopt.”

Pasadena Humane continues to provide housing and care for over 70 dogs whose families have been displaced by the Eaton Fire.
