Training Classes
Pasadena Humane is now hosting in-person training classes for dogs. Unless otherwise noted, classes are held at the Pasadena Humane Behavior & Training Center, located at 361. S Raymond Avenue in Pasadena.
Training classes at Pasadena Humane are provided by private trainers who utilize positive reinforcement-based training methods.
Basic Obedience
Offered by Dog Training Solutions LLC.
Did you just adopt a new canine family member? Maybe you want to brush up on your dog’s basic commands. Whatever your situation, our positive reinforcement-focused Basic Obedience class is your ticket to getting the behaviors you desire and most importantly, building trust and communication with your canine companion. We like to say, “there are no stubborn dogs, only people who haven’t learned to speak ‘dog’”.
• During this 5-week class your dog will learn the following skills: name, sit, touch, watch me, down, stay, heel, basic recall, and loose leash walking foundations.
• Prerequisites: Your dog should be at least 5 months old and up to date on their vaccinations.

Intermediate Obedience
Offered by Dog Training Solutions LLC.
• During this 5-week class your dog will learn the following semi-advanced skills: loose leash walking, polite greetings, distance recalls, distance stays and rock-solid recall.
• Prerequisites: Your dog should be at least 6 months old and up to date on their vaccinations.

Puppy Kindergarten
Welcome to puppy kindergarten! This fun class is for pups 4 to 6 months old (17 weeks – 24 weeks). There will be 2 playtimes and amazing socialization. Puppies will be exposed to different types of environments, objects and sounds. This is the start of good manners, husbandry behaviors for veterinary visits and grooming, as well as learning calm behavior around other dogs and people.
Requirements:
Puppies should be 4 to 6 months old (17 weeks – 24 weeks).
All puppies should be on a leash.
Please bring a lot of small, soft, bite-sized treats to class.
Puppies should have age-appropriate vaccinations.
If your puppy is having health issues please contact the trainer.

Wednesdays, May 11-June 15, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Saturdays, May 14-June 18, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Kitten Kindergarten
Attention all kitten guardians! Come socialize, play, and learn with our cat behavior team. Kittens aged at least 8 weeks or less than 14 weeks old can join us to experience socialization in a safe, clean environment. Kitten guardians will learn training techniques that will help kitty grow up to be the confident little lion they were born to become. This ongoing workshop is designed to educate guardians and teach kittens social skills. Kittens must be confident enough to be handled gently. This class is not suitable for kittens who are not yet socialized to humans.
- Must have at least one adult pet parent present / no more than 2 family members per kitten
- 8 kitten limit per session
- Kittens must have had at least 2 rounds of vaccines, 1 deworming
- Kitten students must be transported in a secure carrier

Large Dog Reactive Rovers
For dogs under 40 lbs, over 6 months of age. Our Small Dog Reactive Rovers specialty course is designed for dogs that bark at other dogs while on leash. Over five weeks, we will discuss reasons for dog reactivity and teach you how to respond when your dog becomes over-stimulated. Opportunities will be given for you to work with your dog around distractions while desensitizing your dog to other dogs in class.

Click-a-Trick
Learn fun, show-worthy tricks with your pup that you will want to show off to all of your friends! In this 6 week course you will be learning how to teach your dog fun tricks such as rollover, fetch, dance, and more using positive reinforcement training! This class will meet once a week at 5:45-6:45pm for six weeks starting on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
