Pasadena Humane’s Third Annual Wildlife Day Brings in Nearly 500 Wildlife Enthusiasts
On Sunday, October 12, we welcomed nearly 500 attendees to our third annual Wildlife Day! Visitors interacted with ambassador animals, shopped our vendor marketplace, learned a lot from local wildlife experts, and enjoyed fun, hands-on activities for all ages. A huge thank you to Bob & Carol McCrary for generously sponsoring Wildlife Day this year.
Ambassador Animals
The Southwestern Herpetologists Society brought some beautiful reptiles—and a wealth of knowledge about them. Some of our very own adoptable critters, including a rabbit and two guinea pigs, were also available for meet-and-greets, inspiring the public to consider visiting our Critter House to adopt.
Informative Presentations
A series of engaging presentations, helmed by experts from Pasadena Humane and beyond, took place throughout the day. Presentations included Urban Wildlife Rehab by Lauren Hamlett (Pasadena Humane), Transitioning an Outdoor Cat to Indoor Life by Rochelle Guardado (Pasadena Humane), Wildlife Post Fire by Kristin Ochoa (Chaney Trail Corridor), Living with Bears by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Native Science 101 by Samantha Morales Johnson (San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians).
Fun & Educational Activities
Kids decorated animal masks, created seed bombs (a mixture of clay and poppy seeds), and got their faces painted in our training yard. At the Nova Community Arts station, attendees were able to screenprint their very own exclusive Wildlife Day tote bags. Cougar Conservancy, International Bird Rescue, California Wildlife Center, the Chaney Trail Corridor Project, and Pasadena Humane’s own Wildlife team educated and inspired visitors of all ages.
Vendor Marketplace
Our vendor marketplace featured 19 local vendors, selling everything from beautiful wildlife art to local plants!
