Pasadena Humane Joins NBCUniversal’s Clear The Shelters Pet Adoption Campaign

PASADENA, Calif. (August 5, 2025)Pasadena Humane is once again participating in NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s annual pet adoption campaign, “Clear The Shelters”, running from August 1 to August 31. As part of the month-long initiative, Pasadena Humane will host a “Clear The Shelters” adoption event on Saturday, August 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., during which adoption fees will be waived for all available animals, including dogs, cats, and critters. This day-long event is generously sponsored by The Leonard & Robert Weintraub Family Foundation.

Pasadena Humane has participated annually in NBCUniversal’s national “Clear The Shelters” campaign since its inception in 2015, helping hundreds of local pets find their forever homes. The event comes at a key time, as summer is often busier at the shelter.

“Adoption saves lives and opens hearts,” says Chris Ramon, interim President & CEO of Pasadena Humane. “Our shelter animals are incredible; they are resilient, affectionate and ready to be a part of a family. We deeply appreciate NBCUniversal for shining a light on local shelters and the importance of adopting.”

All adoptions from Pasadena Humane include spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, and a microchip. New adopters will also receive a complimentary wellness exam with a partner veterinarian and an informational packet to help them care for their new pet. Prospective adopters are encouraged to preview available animals at pasadenahumane.org/adopt.

Regular adoption processes will apply. A pet licensing fee may apply and varies by city. Residents of Altadena, Arcadia, Bradbury, Glendale, La Cañada, La Crescenta, Pasadena, Monrovia, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena must purchase a license for dogs older over four months at the time of adoption. Bradbury also requires a license for cats.

In addition to adoption efforts, Pasadena Humane will benefit from the Clear The Shelters Fund, an online donation platform established specifically for the campaign. Donations can be made throughout the month at ClearTheSheltersFund.org.
