May the 4th Be With You at Pasadena Humane

PASADENA, Calif. (May 1, 2025) – – Pasadena Humane hopes to harness the Force for its second annual May the 4th adoption promotion. Sunday, May 4 is “Star Wars Day”, and the shelter is preparing to be boarded by Star Wars fans, Storm Troopers, and even an appearance by Princess Leia (actress Vivian Lyra Blair of Obi Wan Kenobi).

All adult animals over 6 months can be adopted for just $4 during the event, and the shelter will be open extended hours (from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) to allow for more families to meet their next intergalactic copilot. Shelter officials say that while there are no tauntauns, mynocks or banthas available, many dogs, cats and other critters will be.

To add to the other-worldly atmosphere, Obi-Wan Kenobi star Vivien Lyra Blair and members of the 501st Legion, an international costuming organization dedicated to Star Wars, will be in attendance to meet adopters from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.

“We’ve named some of the pets after Star Wars characters,” says Pasadena Humane Adoptions Manager Irina DiVincenzo, “and we’re excited to have Storm Troopers and Princess Leia helping promote adoption, here and at galaxies far, far away.”
