Henny’s Remarkable Journey
Early last week, an In-N-Out Burger employee in Monrovia made a startling discovery in the restaurant’s drive-thru lane—a nearly four-foot-long ball python. The unusual sight quickly spread across social media and was soon picked up by multiple news outlets across Southern California and beyond.
Meanwhile, in Redlands, a woman named Vanessa was working at a barbershop when the story appeared on the television. She immediately recognized the snake as her family’s missing pet, Henny, who had escaped from their San Bernardino home back in August. The distinctive “alien-like” patterns on the python’s scales were unmistakable.
Vanessa and her family promptly contacted Pasadena Humane, where the snake was being cared for after her unexpected fast-food appearance. Upon reviewing photos and markings, staff confirmed the remarkable match—against all odds, it truly was Henny.
During her brief stay at Pasadena Humane, Henny was shy and reserved. But the moment she was reunited with her family, her demeanor changed completely. She relaxed in their arms, showing off the unique patterns that made her identification possible.
As for how Henny managed to travel more than 40 miles from home, the mystery remains unsolved. For now, Henny’s family is simply grateful to have her back—and when asked about her adventures, Henny declined to comment.
