Passadena Humane Announces Giving Tuesday 5x Match
Your Gift Goes 5x As Far to Help Animals Like Riley This Giving Tuesday
Pasadena, Calif. — Pasadena Humane is highlighting the inspiring recovery of Riley, a dog rescued from the devastating Eaton Fire, as the organization launches a Giving Tuesday Super Match—where every gift will be multiplied fivefold thanks to the generous support of the Sterling Pile Trust.
Riley was discovered alone in the burn zone, exhausted, terrified, and suffering from severe injuries. Covered in soot and ash, he was rushed to Pasadena Humane, where veterinarians immediately began lifesaving treatment. Riley had burns across his body, including all four paws, and was struggling with smoke inhalation.
“Riley was in critical condition when he arrived, but he fought hard,” said Pasadena Humane chief veterinarian Maria Pyrdek. “Our ICU staff provided round-the-clock care to stabilize him, manage his pain, and treat his extensive wounds.”
While Riley’s physical recovery required months of intensive veterinary treatment, his emotional healing took even longer. His traumatic escape from the fire left him fearful and slow to trust. Pasadena Humane’s staff and volunteers spent weeks gently helping Riley rebuild confidence and form positive, safe relationships.
As Riley grew stronger—inside and out—his personality began to emerge. After months of dedicated care, he was adopted by a loving family and is now thriving in his forever home.
To support animals like Riley, Pasadena Humane is launching a 5x Giving Tuesday Super Match. Through midnight on December 2, every donation will be QUINTUPLED, up to $100,000, thanks to the Sterling Pile Trust.
“This extraordinary match allows donors to make five times the impact,” Alyssa Staniland, Philanthropy Communications Manager said. “Every $1 becomes $5 to help vulnerable animals heal and find loving homes.”
