Feral to Friendly

I adopted Juniper (formerly Bellini) from PHS about two and a half weeks ago. I met her while I was volunteering – she hid under an overturned cat bed pretty much all the time and hissed at anyone who tried to even lift up her bed to take a peek. She was a feral cat, brought into PHS in April with a litter of 3 kittens (who have all been adopted). I knew that socializing her would be a challenge, but I felt a strong connection to her from the beginning and I just had to take her home. In the few short weeks that she’s been living with me, she has completely transformed into the sweetest cat. She absolutely loves to cuddle, and she is still building her confidence but she is happy to just be in my presence. She and my other cat Bailey (also adopted from PHS in 2016) are getting to know each other, but introductions are going well so far.

I definitely didn’t intend to take another cat home when I started volunteering, but I like to say that adopting Juniper was the best bad decision I’ve ever made. I am so glad I took a chance on her, and I can’t wait to see her blossom into the happy, confident cat she was meant to be!
