Adopt A Pet Rock At Pasadena Humane
Pasadena Humane is excited to announce a special one-day-only adoption event featuring an exceptional group of companions: pet rocks. The “Adopt a Pet Rock” promotion will take place on April 1 and encourages prospective adopters to take home their very own pet rock.
Available rocks come in a range of sizes, shapes, and personalities, from smooth and reserved to rugged and full of character. Many are described by staff as “extremely well-behaved,” “quiet in the home,” and “content wherever they are.” Their consistency and reliability make them especially appealing to first-time adopters.
“Dogs and cats get a lot of attention, but pet rocks are truly the easiest companions you could ask for,” says Kevin McManus, Director of Public Relations & Communications. “They’re quiet, loyal, and always right where you left them.”
Whether you’re a first-time adopter or a longtime animal lover, Pasadena Humane encourages everyone to explore this one-of-a-kind opportunity and remind the public that adoption rocks. For those still wondering if a pet rock is right for them, consider reviewing some information from the shelter’s Pet Rock Adoption Guide:
- Feeding: Great news: your pet rock survives entirely on love and kindness. Be sure to provide daily servings of compliments, good vibes, and occasional pep talks. (They’re very emotionally nourished).
- Exercise: Pet rocks LOVE going on walks with you. Carry them proudly! They also enjoy a gentle game of “catch” (emphasis on gentle… they remember everything).
- Training: Pet rocks are incredibly intelligent. With patience, you can teach them to: sit, stay, and play dead (they’re naturals at this one).
- Health: Give your rock regular checkups to ensure peak rock condition. Don’t forget to check their teeth. (If you can’t find them, that’s normal).
While these adoptable rocks may not be the right fit for every home, Pasadena Humane’s adoption team is always ready to help visitors find the perfect match among the many real animals currently waiting for loving homes.
Adoptions are available daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information, please visit pasadenahumane.org/april1.
