Meet Finn McCool
We adopted ‘Finn’ on June 23, 2022. He was loved and cared for by the staff of PHS. He is an energetic 1 year old white German Shepherd. My husband and I always had large dogs so adding Finn to our family was a ‘win-win’ situation. Finn has strange dew claws and we found information about an Irish legend named, ‘Finn McCool’ who had ‘magic thumbs’ . We added the ‘McCool’ because it fits him perfectly. Because of his high energy and reactivity towards other dogs who may bark at him, we hired a professional trainer to help us reinforce good, social behaviors. Finn is still a puppy and he loves to play. He enjoys going into his toy box and selecting any toy he wants. He also likes to watch Dog TV on the YouTube channel! His favorites are the squirrels and chipmunks! He enjoys the Furbo camera we got for him. To help with anxiety when we went to visit a neighbor, we were able to talk with him and give him a treat! He is very smart and keeps us on our toes. Because of his curiosity, we are careful to watch him in this ‘puppy’ phase. We love this big guy. He sends his love and doggy kisses to the staff members who took care of him!
Update 6/28/23:
An update on Finn McCool and we are still in love! He has been here for one year and he turned two years old on June 1st. He is such a sweet boy. He does NOT react to dogs or people unless they invade his space. The purebred white German Shepherd has taught us much about his breed. He knows his community and greets the mail carrier, the neighbors and he has a girlfriend named ‘Darla’, a tan German Shepherd rescue. They play and just adore each other. They were on an IG post too with a quick reel to the Queen tune of ‘You’re My Best Friend’. The beginning was tough. He was very reactive and we fell a few times. But patience and constant reinforcement did the trick. Love this breed and love the fact we have grown as pet parents! I would do it all again! Finn loves hiking in the mountains!
