Is It A Bobcat Or Mountain Lion?

Bobcats are often confused for Mountain Lions, but they have distinct differences. Follow this guide to help you determine what wild cat you spotted.

Bobcat

  • 3 ft. long
  • 20-30lbs
  • Dark brown withspots and light belly fur
  • Short tail

If You Encounter A Bobcat

Bobcats are naturally very timid animals that are wary of humans. Bobcats are aware of their surroundings and will hide/run when afraid. When you encounter a brazen bobcat, make the bobcat uncomfortable by hazing it:

  • Yelling
  • Flinging your arms above your head
  • Throw items in the direction of the bobcat
  • Do not run or turn your back
  • Make yourself appear larger and stand your ground
  • Pick up children and pets to make yourself look bigger
