Large Dogs Hope Holidays Will Have Them Coming Up Roses

PASADENA, Calif. (December 12, 2023) – – Pasadena Humane is celebrating its participation in the 135th Rose Parade with an adoption promotion dubbed “Roses and Wet Noses,” sponsored by Pet Care Foundation. From December 15 through December 31, adoption fees will be waived for all dogs over 40 pounds.

Pasadena Humane’s Rose Parade float, “Feed the Love,” is sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition. “Feed the Love” celebrates the bond between pets and their people and encourages shelter pet adoption.

Large dogs make up a majority of Pasadena Humane’s canine population. The promotion hopes to shine light on the many wonderful big dogs at the shelter helping them to find a home. To sweeten the deal, adopters will also receive a swag bag with goodies for their new furry family member.

“With the holidays upon us, it is a wonderful time to give a shelter dog a forever home,” says Dia DuVernet, Pasadena Humane President & CEO. “We hope that all our large dogs are able to watch the Rose Parade from the comfort of their newly adopted homes.”

Adoptions are by appointment only, and appointments are released every Wednesday and Sunday at 10 a.m. There are also walk-in appointments available during weekend Visiting Hours, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

All adopted dogs will be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Adopters receive a free health exam at a participating veterinarian and a discount at the Pasadena Humane Shelter Shop. Adopters living in the Pasadena Humane licensing service area can get a dog license at the time of adoption. Normal licensing fees apply.
