Volunteer Opportunities for Age 15 and Over
Share your love for animals by becoming a Pasadena Humane volunteer.
Our amazing volunteers support all areas of the organization. Here are some ways adults and teens 15 and older can volunteer to help the animals:
Work with Animals
Trained volunteers work with our dogs, cats and critters to provide a variety of daily enrichment activities. Because every animal is unique, volunteers will learn to interpret body language and use the principles of Fear Free Sheltering to provide safe and nurturing enrichment for the animals!
Community Programs
Community Program volunteers represent the shelter and help facilitate a variety of lifesaving programs and services such as mobile pet adoptions, our pet food bank, pet training classes, and more! These wonderful programs making a positive difference in the lives of the people and the lives of their pets!
Foster Care
Foster Care volunteers offer temporary homes and offsite enrichment for dogs, cats and critters. By taking in and caring for these animals temporarily, Foster Care volunteers are helping set these animals up for success in their new homes!
On-Site Support
There are many ways to get involved and support the shelter. Our on-site volunteers contribute in a variety of ways to help keep the shelter and its programs running smoothly. Volunteer as a shelter greeter, tour guide, ambassador and more. There is a program for everyone!
Administrative Help
Open to volunteers of all backgrounds and interests, Administrative Support volunteers will assist staff members in a variety of ways that improve the lives of the animals that we care for! From data entry to mailing and everything in between, we need your help in the office!
Corporate Volunteers

How do I sign up to become a volunteer?
Signing up to become a volunteer is easy! If you are interested in one of our open volunteer opportunities, please fill out our online volunteer application.
Volunteer expectations
- Be at least 15 years old. If you are under 15, check out all of our programming for kids and teens.
- Attend required training sessions for each volunteer opportunity you select.
- Commit to a minimum of 2 hours monthly for a minimum of 12 weeks.
- Communicate kindly with fellow volunteers, Pasadena Humane staff and members of the public.
- Read, comprehend and follow detailed policies, procedures and protocols.
- Understand and accept Pasadena Humane’s mission and its socially conscious sheltering philosophy.
