Adopt a New Pet During “Free Adoption Day”

Pasadena Humane will hold a “Free Adoption Day” on Saturday, September 24, presented by the Spence Family to encourage community members to adopt a pet in need.

During the September 24 event, adoption fees will be waived for all available animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and critters. The shelter, located at 361 S. Raymond Avenue in Pasadena, will be open for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is needed.

This is the fourth Free Adoption Day event at Pasadena Humane in as many months. The first three have resulted in over 200 adoptions, and shelter officials are confident this trend will continue.

“Through adopting so many animals, the community has helped us get through the toughest part of the year, the busy summer months,” said Dia DuVernet, President & CEO of Pasadena Humane. “Adoptions tend to slow down in the fall, so we are hopeful this event will find many homes for the pets in our care.”

“As we get into autumn, many families who have had busy summers get back into a routine, which is very beneficial when bringing in a new pet,” added DuVernet. “New four-legged family members benefit from a sense of structure that aligns with back-to-school time.”

All dogs and cats adopted from Pasadena Humane are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received age-appropriate vaccines. New adopters will receive a complimentary wellness exam with a partner veterinarian and a packet filled with information about how to care for their pet.

The event is open to residents of any city looking to adopt a pet. Regular adoption screening applies. Free onsite parking is available. Overflow parking is available at Del Mar Station for a fee.
