Discover & Learn At Pasadena Humane’s Free Wildlife Day
PASADENA, Calif. (October 6, 2025) — On Sunday, October 12, Pasadena Humane is excited to invite the community to the third annual Wildlife Day, a free, family-friendly event designed to connect people of all ages with wildlife conservation and education. Wildlife Day will take place between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pasadena Humane shelter, offering a mix of engaging presentations, family activities, animal ambassador encounters, crafts, a local vendor marketplace, giveaways, and more – all focused on deepening the public’s understanding of how humans and wildlife coexist in Southern California. This event is generously sponsored by Bob and Carol McCrary and supported by various local conservation organizations.
Throughout the day, subject-matter experts will present on current and relevant topics in wildlife and environmental science:
- 11:15 a.m.: Urban Wildlife Rehab by Lauren Hamlett (Pasadena Humane)
- 12:15 p.m.: Wildlife Post Fire by Kristin Ochoa (Chaney Trail Corridor)
- 1:15 p.m.: Living With Bears (California Department of Fish and Wildlife)
- 2:15 p.m.: Native Science 101 by Samantha Morales Johnson (San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians)
Interactive learning stations for visitors, families and children will also be available:
- Animal ambassadors meet-n-greets
- Wildlife mask coloring
- Seed bomb making for native plant restoration
- Wildlife sticker station
- “Measure Your Wingspan” bird education activity
“Wildlife Day creates a welcoming space for our neighbors to come together, learn, and deepen our connection with the living world around us,” says Lauren Hamlett, Pasadena Humane’s Director of Wildlife Education & Services. “It’s about fostering an understanding of how we can respectfully live in community and reciprocity with the wildlife we share space with.”
Representatives from the International Bird Rescue, California Wildlife Center and We Explore Earth will be present, along with the Cougar Conservatory, Chaney Trail Corridor Project, Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy, and more. Marketplace vendors include Patagonia, Barefoot Seeker Art, Srimoyee Handmade Art, Californica Nursery, Altadena Seed Library, Majano Coffee, and more.
Pasadena Humane, located at 361 S. Raymond Avenue, is committed to creating a healthy, sustainable community that values all species. At their Sandra J. Goodspeed Wildlife Center, they care for injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife with the goal of releasing animals back to the wild.
