Shortly after the Eaton Fire broke out, a tiny 4-month-old kitten was found by the Pasadena Fire Department within the burn area in Altadena. She was covered in ash, her fur was completely singed and her little body was covered in burns. She struggled to walk because of scorched paw pads and could not open her eyes due to the burns on her small face.
Despite all of the excruciating pain this tiny girl experienced, it was apparent that her sweet personality was bigger than any injury and that she was a fighter. She received an outpouring of love and accolades from our followers on social media & quickly became a favorite amongst our supporters. After weeks of treatment in the intensive care unit, her wounds started to heal, and her personality began to shine even brighter than before.
When she was finally medically cleared for adoption on February 11, there was a flurry of interest from people across the world who wanted to make her a part of their families. But it was a local woman named Susan who fell in love with this sweet kitten and decided to adopt her.
It was an incredibly emotional moment witnessing the kitten find her forever home and watching the two immediately bond. Susan began calling the kitten IvyCat, named in honor of our adoption counselor Ivy, who lost her home a couple of blocks away from where the kitten was found. It was a thoughtful way for Susan to honor Ivy and is a ray of hope in light of this tragic situation.
We are so excited for IvyCat’s bright future and wish her a lifetime of happiness with her new loving family!
