Kitten Shower Donation Drive @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA

Black and white kitten 1.jpg largerThe kittens are coming and we need your help! Each year the Pasadena Humane Society takes in hundreds of kittens in need of extra TLC. We rely on foster parents to raise these young kittens until they are big and strong enough to come back to the shelter for adoption. Help us stock our shelves with tasty kitten food and other basic supplies during our Kitten Shower Donation Drive from April 24 to April 30. Visit our Amazon wishlist to pick out the perfect gift for the kittens or stop by PHS to drop off your shower gift. Participants will be entered to win a special Kitten Experience at PHS.

Barks and Books @ La Pintoresca Branch Library

Barks and Books is our reading enrichment program for children ages 5 to 12 that makes reading fun, boosts confidence and encourages respectful, humane treatment for all animals. It offers children the opportunity to read animal related short stories of their choice to dogs in our Companion Animal Program.

Beginner Intermediate Agility Classes Begin @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA’s Education & Training Center

Beginner Intermediate Agility Classes Begin @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA’s Education & Training Center | Pasadena | California | United States

Our six-week Beginner Intermediate Agility class builds on the foundations of Beginner Agility by further refining your dog’s facility on the equipment and your skills as a handler. Our instructors emphasize increased precision and specific footwork for you and your pup!

When: Mondays, April 24th – June 12th: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (No class May 22 and 29th)

Course Prerequisites: Previously completed Beginner Agility or have prior instructor approval. Your dog cannot exhibit aggressiveness or excessive shyness towards people or other dogs and must be able to focus on handler and work off-leash around other dogs.

Registration: To register for an upcoming class, complete and return our most current registration form. This class requires prior phone consultation before attending. Please call (626) 792-7151 ext. 155 to speak with a member of our training department.

Note: Please bring your dog to the first class. The fee is $150 for general registration, $130 for dogs adopted from PHS and $85 for active PHS volunteers.

Puppy Pre-School Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Education & Training Center

For puppies less than 4 months of age only. This class is designed for puppies under 4 months of age and allows owners to take advantage of their puppy’s critical socialization period. Puppies will learn how to respond to their name, get used to being handled and groomed and introduced to walking on leash. They will be introduced to everyday objects, obstacles and other stimulation that will equip them into the next stage of life. Puppies will also have the opportunity to socialize with other puppies in a safe and well managed environment. Owners will be given vital information on early prevention of problem behaviors such as mouthing, biting and house soiling.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Class includes: Homework, Problem Solving Handouts, and Certificate of Completion

Class capacity: 10 students

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be under 4 months of age on their first week of class and have had their first round of vaccinations 7 days prior to the start of class.You must provide proof of vaccination prior to the first day of class.

Waggin’ @ 100th Anniversary Poly Pet and Hobby Show @ Babcock Field, Polytechnic School

If you spot a green and white 35’ RV driving to a community event, you have discovered our Wiggle Waggle Wagon (The Waggin’). It extends the boundaries and hours of our organization by visiting events and places in the Los Angeles area. Our “shelter on wheels” is known for bringing a selection of adoptable dogs and cats, as well as current information on our spay/neuter services, area wildlife and PHS programs and services.

PHS @ Truck Adventures for Kids @ Santa Anita Race Track

PHS is excited to attend Truck Adventures for Kids at the Santa Anita Race Track! Kids will have the chance to meet a Pasadena Humane Society animal control officer and get up close and personal with a real animal control truck. The event is also a great opportunity for parents to learn more about the Pasadena Humane Society’s programs and services in the community, find out how to get involved and snag free animal-related giveaways!

Puppy Social Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Behavior & Training Center
Apr 29 @ 9:30 am – 10:30 am

A drop in social hour for puppies between the ages of 2-6 months. This is the perfect opportunity to get your puppy socialized with other puppies in a safe and structured environment. Play interactions are managed and supervised by our trainers to ensure all puppies leave with a new positive experience.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per session; limited sessions are offered during the year

Class includes: Off leash supervised play and socialization with other puppies.

Fees: $8.00 for currently enrolled students; $10.00 for general public

Class capacity: No Limit
