Barks and Books @ Lamanda Park Branch Library

Barks and Books is our reading enrichment program for children ages 5 to 12 that makes reading fun, boosts confidence and encourages respectful, humane treatment for all animals. It offers children the opportunity to read animal related short stories of their choice to dogs in our Companion Animal Program.

Mobile Unit @ La Cañada Flintridge Petco

The Pasadena Humane Society’s Mobile Outreach Unit is a 33-foot motor home that extends the boundaries and hours of our organization by visiting throughout the Los Angeles area and the nine cities we serve. Our “shelter on wheels” transports the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA to shopping centers, events and festivals throughout our service cities. Known for bringing a selection of adoptable dogs and cats, the outreach unit also carries current information on our spay/neuter services, area wildlife and other programs and services. Our Mobile Outreach Coordinator runs the Unit on volunteer power and is always willing to go to a new location!

Puppy Social Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Behavior & Training Center
Feb 25 @ 9:30 am – 10:30 am

A drop in social hour for puppies between the ages of 2-6 months. This is the perfect opportunity to get your puppy socialized with other puppies in a safe and structured environment. Play interactions are managed and supervised by our trainers to ensure all puppies leave with a new positive experience.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per session; limited sessions are offered during the year

Class includes: Off leash supervised play and socialization with other puppies.

Fees: $8.00 for currently enrolled students; $10.00 for general public

Class capacity: No Limit

Training Workshop: Puppy Manners @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA

You don’t need to send your puppy to finishing school to teach them manners. Just bring them to our Puppy Manners workshop! You and your dog will learn to address jumping, mouthing, crate training and leash manners while your puppy socializes with other puppies and people. Your puppy must be 2-5 months old.

Animal Adventurers: Rabbits 101 @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA
Feb 25 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

February is Adopt a Shelter Rabbit Month and what better time for your child to learn all about our furry, floppy-eared friends! After a tour of the PHS Critter House, your child will help set up a rabbit play room and obstacle course for the shelter rabbits to exercise. Experienced staff will teach the children how to safely hold a rabbit and the kids will make rabbit enrichment toys for the shelter rabbits or a rabbit of their own. This month’s program is for children age 6-12.

Training Workshop: Impulse Control @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA

Is your dog so excited to greet people that they sometimes jump or use their teeth? Help you pup keep its cool at our impulse control workshop! Learn techniques to teach your dog to greet people appropriately and to develop impulse control in a variety of situations.

Sunday Morning Helpers @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA

Can’t volunteer with us on a regular basis? Join us for Sunday Morning Helpers at the Pasadena Humane Society! You, your family members and friends can volunteer for a crafting or cleaning crew. Make cat, dog or rabbit toys and beds for our shelter animals to enjoy or help tidy up the shelter.

The minimum volunteer age for Sunday Morning Helpers is six years old. Volunteers 6-14 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Volunteers 15 and older may volunteer on their own. All volunteers must submit required Pasadena Humane Society volunteer waivers and forms.
