The Pasadena Humane low-cost public spay and neuter clinic offers affordable surgery for dogs and cats.
COST OF SPAY/NEUTER SURGERY
Appointments will open at the end of every month for the following month. Demand is high and appointments fill quickly. Additional appointments will be made available throughout the month so check back regularly for new openings. We do not maintain a wait list.
More public spay/neuter appointments are available in winter and early spring months when shelter intake is lower.
Feline spay/neuter:
Male and female cats (2lbs and over): $165
Canine spay/neuter:
Small dog (2-30lbs): $305
Medium dog (31-50lbs): $365
Large dog (51-75lbs): $425
Extra large dog (76lbs and over): $485
*By law, all dogs over four months require a current rabies vaccine and pet license. If your dog is not licensed, please be prepared to pay for a license the day of your dog’s spay/neuter surgery at pickup. Licensing fees vary by city.
Included in Price of Surgery
The cost of surgery includes all of the following services. When checking in for surgery, you will be able to select which of the following services you would like at no additional charge:
- Microchip
- Species and Age-Appropriate Vaccines*: FVRCP, DA2PP, rabies, bordetella
- Flea treatment for cats
- Nail trims
*Canine influenza and leptospirosis vaccines are not available during spay/neuter and can be scheduled with our vaccine clinic.
No Additional Fees
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT SCHEDULING SPAY/NEUTER
Low-cost spay/neuter appointments are available to residents of Pasadena Humane’s 11 animal care & control service areas. Proof of residence is required to book. Payment is required at time of appointment booking through our online scheduling system. No-shows to appointments will be non-refundable. Check-in is between 7:15 and 8:00 a.m. Your pet must be picked up at 3 p.m. There are no exceptions.
If you see a message that says “All available appointments for this type currently filled” on our scheduling tool, that means that all appointments currently available for that type of pet have been filled. Please check back weekly as additional appointments are released throughout the month as they become available. Please note, more appointments are available to the public during the winter and spring months when our shelter intake is lower.
Due to the nature of our high-volume clinic, we cannot perform surgery on animals that:
- Have a history of aggressive or defensive behavior with humans.
- Have a history of vaccine reactions.
- Have a history of seizures.
- Are currently displaying any symptoms of illness.
If your pet is noted to have any of these conditions, our veterinary team will not proceed with surgery.
*California law requires that every dog over four months old be vaccinated against rabies and licensed. If your dog is not licensed, please be prepared to pay for a license the day of your dog’s spay/neuter surgery at pickup. There is an additional fee for a pet license. Licensing fees vary by city.
If you are concerned for your pet after their spay or neuter surgery, the post-operative instructions answer many common questions.
If your pet is experiencing a life threatening emergency we recommend you take them to a veterinary emergency clinic right away.
We are happy to see your pet back if there are any complications related to the surgery. Please complete the Recheck Request Form. We will contact you with further instructions. (Please be advised that it may take up to 24 hours to get a response.)
