Barks and Books @ Library Connection at Adams Square

Barks and Books is our reading enrichment program for children ages 5 to 12 that makes reading fun, boosts confidence and encourages respectful, humane treatment for all animals. It offers children the opportunity to read animal related short stories of their choice to dogs in our Companion Animal Program.

Barks and Books is currently available at 18 libraries in our service cities. No reservation necessary. Please contact 626.792.7151 ext. 114 or outreach@pasadenahumane.org with any questions.

Kids for Animals Club: Ages 12-14

The Kids for Animals (KFA) Club offers kids age 12 to 14 a unique afterschool opportunity to experience the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA shelter. Each KFA Club session includes weekly meetings that incorporate an engaging humane education topic and craft or game activity geared towards animals. KFA Club Members may also participate in special on- and off-site PHS events and other kid-related activities.

Puppy Social Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Behavior & Training Center

A drop in social hour for puppies between the ages of 2-6 months. This is the perfect opportunity to get your puppy socialized with other puppies in a safe and structured environment. Play interactions are managed and supervised by our trainers to ensure all puppies leave with a new positive experience.

Please arrive early to sign in. Doors open at 9:20 a.m.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per session; limited sessions are offered during the year

Class includes: Off leash supervised play and socialization with other puppies.

Fees: $8.00 for currently enrolled students; $10.00 for general public

Class capacity: No Limit

Course prerequisites: First full round of vaccinations. Follow this link for the AVSAB’s position on puppy socialization: Socialization Requirements

Waggin’ @ Subaru Loves Pets Adoption Event @ Sierra Subaru of Monrovia

If you spot a green and white 35’ RV driving to a community event, you have discovered our Wiggle Waggle Wagon (The Waggin’). It extends the boundaries and hours of our organization by visiting events and places in the Los Angeles area. Our “shelter on wheels” is known for bringing a selection of adoptable dogs and cats, as well as current information on our spay/neuter services, area wildlife and PHS programs and services.

Sunday Morning Helpers @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA

Can’t volunteer with us on a regular basis? Join us for Sunday Morning Helpers at the Pasadena Humane Society! You, your family members and friends can volunteer for a crafting or cleaning crew. Make cat, dog or rabbit toys and beds for our shelter animals to enjoy or help tidy up the shelter.

The minimum volunteer age for Sunday Morning Helpers is six years old. Volunteers 6-14 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Volunteers 15 and older may volunteer on their own. All volunteers must submit required Pasadena Humane Society volunteer waivers and forms.
