Kitten Donation Drive

It’s that time again. Kitten time that is. Our Kitten Shower Donation drive will be held throughout the month of April. In order to get our little feline friends a little something all you need to do is click here to visit our Amazon wishlist and pick a perfect gift for them. Walk in donations are also welcome! With these items we will be better equipped to make our kittens be happy, healthy and ready for adoption.

From April 23-April 28, the Pasadena Humane Society is offering free spay & neuter for cats and kittens.* Make an appointment.

*Free spay/neuter is offered for healthy cats living in the Pasadena Humane Society’s animal control contract cities: Altadena, Arcadia, Bradbury, Glendale, La Cañada-Flintridge, La Crescenta-Montrose, Monrovia, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, and South Pasadena. Additional fees may apply at the discretion of the veterinarian.

Barks and Books @ La Pintoresca Branch Library

Barks and Books is our reading enrichment program for children ages 5 to 12 that makes reading fun, boosts confidence and encourages respectful, humane treatment for all animals. It offers children the opportunity to read animal related short stories of their choice to dogs in our Companion Animal Program.

Barks and Books is currently available at 18 libraries in our service cities. No reservation necessary. Please contact 626.792.7151 ext. 114 or outreach@pasadenahumane.org with any questions.

Basic Obedience Classes Begin (Class is full)

Basic Obedience is an introductory-level course designed to improve communication between you and your dog. This six-week course covers the essentials, including sit, down, stay, come and loose-leash walking. We will also problem solve behaviors such as jumping up, barking, chewing and destruction.

Date & Time: Mondays, April 23 – May 28: 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Fees: $150 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $85 for active PHS volunteers**

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be able to be handled by a friendly stranger and must be able to work safely around people and other dogs on leash. Dogs must not bark at other dogs when on leash.

Puppy Pre-School Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Education & Training Center
Apr 24 @ 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm

For puppies less than 4 months of age only. This class is designed for puppies under 4 months of age and allows owners to take advantage of their puppy’s critical socialization period. Puppies will learn how to respond to their name, get used to being handled and groomed and introduced to walking on leash. They will be introduced to everyday objects, obstacles and other stimulation that will equip them into the next stage of life. Puppies will also have the opportunity to socialize with other puppies in a safe and well managed environment. Owners will be given vital information on early prevention of problem behaviors such as mouthing, biting and house soiling.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Class includes: Homework, Problem Solving Handouts, and Certificate of Completion

Class capacity: 10 students

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be under 4 months of age on their first week of class and have had their first round of vaccinations 7 days prior to the start of class.You must provide proof of vaccination prior to the first day of class.

Puppy Kindergarten Classes Begin (Class is full)

Puppy Kindergarten is an introductory-level course for puppies 4 to 6 months of age that focuses on puppy socialization and early training. This six-week covers obedience essentials such as sit, down, stay, come and loose leash walking. We will also problem solve typical puppy problem behaviors such as puppy mouthing, chewing, jumping up, and house soiling.

Date & Time: Tuesdays, April 24 – May 29: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Fees: $150 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $85 for active PHS volunteers**
