The name Yoshi in Japanese translates to “nice” or “alright.” Yoshi is a three year old Akita who came to Pasadena Humane as a stray. The finder kept Yoshi for about three weeks trying to find his owner until finally bringing him to the shelter. This says something about both the finder and the dog . . . they got along with each other. Yoshi’s one caveat is that he likes to eat alone without anyone bothering him . . . much like many of us in this life! Being an Akita, the ideal home is one in which Yoshi would be the only dog. They are defined as strong willed and bold, but extremely loyal to their family. Our staff has found Yoshi to needing to be with someone at all times . . . he just needs to be with his person! Also, staff reports that it takes a while for Yoshi to trust someone. A family with older kids or all adults familiar with Akitas might also be best. Is Yoshi “nice” and “alright”? We suspect that when his true personality comes out once he is comfortable in a new home, you will find a really nice dog that is certainly alright!
