The Helping Paws Pet Food Bank offers free food and supplies to pet owners in need. The Pet Food Bank is held on site every first Saturday of the month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Applications are available during food bank hours and at the Adoptions Office.

Pet CPR & First Aid

Join us at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA for a two-hour Pet CPR & First Aid workshop led by VCA SoCal Team’s Shelter Relations Director, Group Technician, and Assistant Development Supervisor, Fawn Nyvold (RVT, CPhT, CPDT, CVPM).

During this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How to conduct a primary assessment in an emergency situation
  • How to safely restrain and muzzle an ill or injured pet
  • The skills of canine and feline CPR and rescue breathing
  • How to manage choking, bleeding, and shock incidents
  • How to prepare a pet first-aid kit
  • And much more!

Saving Kittens' Lives & Community Cats 101 with Kitten Lady

Please join the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA for a purrfectly pawesome educational workshop featuring award-winning humane educator, kitten rescuer, and unwavering animal advocate, Hannah Shaw, Kitten Lady! Hannah’s Saving Kittens’ Lives workshop helps shine a light on the need for foster parents, kitten care, and self-care. Community Cats 101 examines the various programs that can save feral and community cats and dives deep into how to humanely and effectively trap, neuter, return, and care for the cats in our communities. Live demos and fun videos bring kitten and community cat care to life and show how simple it is for one person to make a big difference! A special Kitten Lady meet-and-greet will be held after the workshop for those with VIP tickets.

Workshop schedule:

  • 1-3pm: Community Cats 101

Join Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA’s Kitten Nursery Manager, Chris Ramon, and Foster Care Manager, Izzy Nidetz, for this special workshop where you’ll learn how to:

  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) community cats
  • Foster orphaned kitten litters
  • Bottle feed baby kittens

By participating, you’ll receive:

  • Two 2 hours service recognition
  • Opportunity to sign up as a kitten foster parent

No RSVP required. Workshop for high school students, grades 9-12.
