Puppy Pre-School Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Education & Training Center
Jan 16 @ 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm

For puppies less than 4 months of age only. This class is designed for puppies under 4 months of age and allows owners to take advantage of their puppy’s critical socialization period. Puppies will learn how to respond to their name, get used to being handled and groomed and introduced to walking on leash. They will be introduced to everyday objects, obstacles and other stimulation that will equip them into the next stage of life. Puppies will also have the opportunity to socialize with other puppies in a safe and well managed environment. Owners will be given vital information on early prevention of problem behaviors such as mouthing, biting and house soiling.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Class includes: Homework, Problem Solving Handouts, and Certificate of Completion

Class capacity: 10 students

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be under 4 months of age on their first week of class and have had their first round of vaccinations 7 days prior to the start of class.You must provide proof of vaccination prior to the first day of class.

Basic Obedience Classes Begin (Class is full)
Jan 17 @ 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm

Basic Obedience is an introductory-level course designed to improve communication between you and your dog. This six-week course covers the essentials, including sit, down, stay, come and loose-leash walking. We will also problem solve behaviors such as jumping up, barking, chewing and destruction.

Date & Time: Wednesdays, January 17 – February 21: 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

This class is full.

Fees: $150 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $85 for active PHS volunteers**

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be able to be handled by a friendly stranger and must be able to work safely around people and other dogs on leash.Dogs must not bark at other dogs when on leash.

Reactive Rovers: Small Dog Classes Begin (Class is full)
Jan 18 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

For dogs under 40 lbs, any age. Our small dog Reactive Rovers specialty course is designed for dogs that bark at other dogs while on leash. Over six weeks, we will discuss reasons for dog reactivity and teach you how to respond when your dog becomes over-stimulated. While in our modified group class setting, we’ll teach and practice basic obedience cues including sit, down, stay and more. Opportunities will be given for you to work with your dog around distractions while desensitizing your dog to other dogs in class.

Date & Time: Thursdays, January 18 – February 22: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Fees: $150 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $85 for active PHS volunteers**

Class capacity: 6 students maximum

Class includes: Homework, Problem Solving Handouts, and Certificate of Completion

Puppy Social Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Behavior & Training Center
Jan 20 @ 9:30 am – 10:15 am

A drop in social hour for puppies between the ages of 2-6 months. This is the perfect opportunity to get your puppy socialized with other puppies in a safe and structured environment. Play interactions are managed and supervised by our trainers to ensure all puppies leave with a new positive experience.

Please arrive early to sign in. Doors open at 9:20 a.m.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per session; limited sessions are offered during the year

Class includes: Off leash supervised play and socialization with other puppies.

Fees: $8.00 for currently enrolled students; $10.00 for general public

Class capacity: No Limit

Puppy Kindergarten Classes Begin
Jan 20 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Puppy Kindergarten is an introductory-level course for puppies 4 to 6 months of age that focuses on puppy socialization and early training. This six-week covers obedience essentials such as sit, down, stay, come and loose leash walking. We will also problem solve typical puppy problem behaviors such as puppy mouthing, chewing, jumping up, and house soiling.

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be between the ages of 4 to 6 months and must be able to be handled by a friendly stranger and able to work safely around people and other dogs on leash. Beginner Agility Classes Begin
Jan 22 @ 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm

Beginner Agility is an entertaining introduction to the fun and fast-paced sport of agility. In this six-week course, you will teach your dog how to jump over hurdles, run through tunnels, weave through poles, and more. We emphasize the importance of proper technique, usage of equipment and correct footwork, all while having lots of fun!

When: Mondays, January 22nd – March 5th: 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. (No class 2/19)

Course Prerequisites: We highly recommend that you and your dog have completed either Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Obedience. Your dog cannot exhibit aggressiveness or excessive shyness towards people or other dogs.

Intermediate Agility Classes Begin
Jan 22 @ 7:15 pm – 8:15 pm

Intermediate Agility focuses on technique and footwork. In this six-week class, you and your dog will be running more challenging courses, as the instructor helps you and your pup master the equipment and achieve faster run times.

When: Mondays, January 22nd – March 5th: 7:15 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.

Course Prerequisites: Previously completed Beginner Intermediate Agility or have prior instructor approval. Your dog cannot exhibit aggressiveness or excessive shyness towards people or other dogs and must be able to focus on handler and work off-leash around other dogs.
