Large Dog Reactive Rovers: Fridays 5:30-6:30pm @ Pasadena Humane
Jul 10 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

For dogs over 40 lbs, over 6 months of age. Our Large Dog Reactive Rovers specialty course is designed for dogs that bark at other dogs while on leash. Over five weeks, we will discuss reasons for dog reactivity and teach you how to respond when your dog becomes over-stimulated. While in our modified group class setting, we’ll teach and practice basic obedience cues including sit, down, stay and more. Opportunities will be given for you to work with your dog around distractions while desensitizing your dog to other dogs in class.

This class will be meeting on Fridays, 5:30-6:30 pm on July 10th-17th, and July 31st-August 14th. PLEASE NOTE: There is no class on July 24th.

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations and owners must provide proof of vaccines by email to behavior@pasadenahumane.org before the start of class. Dogs must be over 6 months of age.

Please note the first class is owners only. Please do not bring your dog on the first week of class.

Our safety protocols to ensure everyone is as safe as possible include:

  • Only one attendee per dog – no additional family members.
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times while on campus by both staff and students.
  • Maintain a 6ft distance from other students and the trainer(s).
  • Classes will be set up with safe physical distances between each dog.
  • Students are to bring their own high value peanut-free treats.
  • Class sizes are limited.
  • One way entrances and exits.
  • Chairs, barriers, and common surfaces are disinfected before and after each class.

Puppy Pre-School @ Pasadena Humane
Jul 11 @ 10:00 am – 10:45 am

Puppy Pre-School is a 3 week introductory course for puppies under 16 weeks of age. You will learn the foundations of positive reinforcement training and your puppy will learn leash skills, healthy play skills, and how to respond to their name. Our skilled trainers will manage play sessions during class ensuring a safe and fun environment for your puppy. Our behavior specialists will provide guidance on such topics as mouthing, house training, and jumping. Pre-School puppies must be between 8-15 weeks at start of session.

This class will be meeting at 10:00 am for 45 minutes on July 11th, July 18th, and August 1st. PLEASE NOTE: There is no class on July 25th.

Course prerequisites: Puppies must have at least their first round of vaccinations and remain up to date. Owners must provide proof of vaccines by email to behavior@pasadenahumane.org before the start of class.

Puppy Kindergarten @ Pasadena Humane

Puppy Kindergarten covers obedience essentials such as sit, down, stay, come and loose leash walking. We will also problem solve typical puppy problem behaviors such as puppy mouthing, chewing, jumping up, and house soiling. This class will be meeting on Mondays, 5:30-6:30 pm on July 6th-13th, and July 27th-August 10th. PLEASE NOTE: There is no class on July 20th.

Please note the first class is owners only. Please do not bring your dog on the first week of class.

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be between the ages of 4 to 6 months of age and must be able to be handled by a friendly stranger and able to work safely around people and other dogs on leash. This five-week course covers the essentials, including sit, down, stay, come and loose-leash walking. We will also problem solve behaviors such as jumping up, barking, chewing and destruction.

This class will be meeting on Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm on July 7th-14th, and July 28th-August 11th. PLEASE NOTE: There is no class on July 21st.

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be able to be handled by a friendly stranger and must be able to work safely around people and other dogs on leash.
