Sara Maria Muriello started in animal welfare in Kitwe, Zambia where she led community programs for a shelter, doing outreach and working with local government to conduct mass vaccination drives. It was in Zambia that Sara realized her calling to support the human-animal bond and keep more animals in their homes, wherever their homes may be.
Since joining Pasadena Humane in 2015, Sara has held various leadership roles in Volunteer Services, Outreach, Community Resources, Admissions and Placement. Sara is dedicated to the core value of learning by earning professional certifications, participating in the UC Davis Capacity for Care Bootcamp, and joining the NACA Culture and Collaboration Council to help realize a model of animal sheltering that leads with choice, community, and love.
In her free time, Sara volunteers with the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, hikes, and travels to Zambia. She and her husband are companions to five dogs, on two different continents.
