It’s been a wet and busy weekend! On Saturday, November 26, we headed over to PetSmart at the Hastings Ranch Shopping Center with two large dogs and three small dogs. Crowds of people were at the shopping center for the Black Friday weekend and visited us all day long! A family stopped by to look at photos of the adoptable animals and became interested in a dog back at PHS. They met and adopted him the following day!

Although rain was threatening, people were still visiting the Mobile Unit. A retired couple showed up looking for a lap dog to ride in the husband’s wheel-chair. Within a short time, a sweet Chihuahua named “Sugar” was riding to her new home! We set new speeds in packing it up just as the first drops of rain fell and headed back to PHS.

On Sunday, November 27, we drove to PetSmart in Monrovia with five wonderful dogs. We set up underneath a large overhang just as the rain began. Despite the weather, it was a busy day with a lot of interest in our dogs and in the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA.

Coming up this week: On Thursday evening, Dec. 1, we will be at the Monrovia Holiday Parade, which starts at 7:00 p.m. The parade will be in Old Town Monrovia on Myrtle Ave. On Saturday, Dec. 3, we will be at The Sofa Company’s Adoption Event from noon until 4:00 p.m. located at 100 W. Green St. in Old Town Pasadena. Then on Sunday, Dec. 4, we will be at the Flea Market at Pasadena City College from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

About Marlin Miller

After my first entry, people have been asking, "Who's Marlin?" Briefly, I am the Mobile Outreach Coordinator for PHS. I drive the 33-foot long Mobile Unit and squeeze it into impossible spaces at a variety of community events. Inside, we have kennels for adoptable dogs and seats for enthusiastic mobile volunteers. We happily motor off to events every Saturday and Sunday and a day or two during the week as well. At these events, we display around 40 informational sheets or flyers and showcase our adoptable dogs while representing PHS. We are in such demand that our event calendar is booked several months in advance!
