Fifi enjoys her Puppucino!

We had another fun weekend on the Mobile Unit. On Saturday, Nov. 19 we were at Pasadena City College for the Million Meals Marathon. This event gives the public an opportunity to donate non-perishable food for people and for pets. A lot of people dropped off their donations. One troop of Boy Scouts hung out with the dogs for a while after donating, playing with and petting them. Certainly, the dogs all had fun and we all had fun, but no adoptions today. Our thanks go to PCC for giving the pet donations to PHS! It is always appreciated!

Sunday, Nov. 20, we pulled up in front of the newly remodeled Petco on Arroyo Pkwy. We set up and our six dogs headed off for walks before we settled down. There were people in our area throughout the entire day. Our big surprise for the day was the weather. It began to sprinkle on and off! Well, maybe there was another surprise: the Starbucks next door donated a “Puppucino” for each of our dogs. This was whipped cream in a cup. Yes, I was quickly checking online to see if our dogs could eat this treat. Turns out that like most food, if your dog isn’t accustomed to it, go lightly! Apparently a lot of dog owners order a Puppucino for their dogs when shopping at Petco!

As the rain became heavier, I decided it was time to call it a day and we headed back to PHS in time for the sun to peek through! (You just can’t win!)

Coming next weekend, we can be found on Saturday, November 26 at the PetSmart in Hastings Ranch Shopping located at 3347 E. Foothill Blvd., in Pasadena and on Sunday, November 27 at the PetSmart in Monrovia located at 614 Huntington Dr. both from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Hope to see you there On the Road!

About Marlin Miller

After my first entry, people have been asking, "Who's Marlin?" Briefly, I am the Mobile Outreach Coordinator for PHS. I drive the 33-foot long Mobile Unit and squeeze it into impossible spaces at a variety of community events. Inside, we have kennels for adoptable dogs and seats for enthusiastic mobile volunteers. We happily motor off to events every Saturday and Sunday and a day or two during the week as well. At these events, we display around 40 informational sheets or flyers and showcase our adoptable dogs while representing PHS. We are in such demand that our event calendar is booked several months in advance!
