Nala is a beautiful young dog who starts off quite shy with people and needs plenty of time to warm up to you. With patience and time, volunteers report that she will lie down next to you and bury her head in your lap. Nala’s foster mom reports: “If you invite Nala into your home, she’ll use her pit bull terrier skills to chase all of the rodents away and to warn off unwanted visitors! She has a big, deep bark to keep strangers at bay. It takes her some time to get to know new people. But once she does, she’s a lovable, silly, loyal, curious, adventurous, loving companion. She gives cuddles on command (which is to say, whenever you want them!) and she will wag her tail in excitement so hard every morning and every time you come home that she might just fall over. She is fully house trained, loves car rides, enjoys long hikes, and especially loves to play games. She’s becoming an expert at scent work: she can find the treat hidden under a series of boxes almost a hundred per cent of the time! Nala wants to play, to explore, and to cuddle with you over the long term. Nala will do best in a family that understands how to make under-socialized dogs feel safe and to structure their introduction to the various stimuli of a broader environment. She’s a fast learner who is still uncertain about a lot of things in the world, but once she lets you into her heart she’ll do the best she can to protect you and to make you feel like the most important person in the universe!”
