Duke The 2nd, also known as the Duke of Dena, was born and raised in Altadena, California. He was the dog of a local underground rockstar, so he grew up to the sound of band practice every Sunday.

There’s nothing Duke loves more than to chew on rocks. He makes a funny little yipping sound when he does it, almost sounds like a coyote! Fret not! Veterinarians have spent years trying to figure out just why he loves rocks so much, and it just comes down to Duke having a bit of doggy anxiety. Just know that if you have rocks in your yard, Duke will most likely use them as doggy pacifiers.

He is the sweetest dog and is very food motivated. He loves going on rides, but be sure to child lock your window, because he knows how to roll them down! A few years back he actually rolled the car window down himself and before he could be caught, he jumped out. Would you believe me if I told you that he was ran over twice and lived to tell the tale?! Well, he did! So no, those scars he has are not from fights, they are his survival scars. He is a tough cookie!

Duke lost his best friend and owner in July of 2023 and ever since then, he has been extremely lost and sad. His owner took him everywhere, on all the adventures. He needs a home that is willing to be patient, gentle, and willing to give up a few rocks for him to settle his anxiety with.
