In French, the name “Doudou” translates to “Teddy” as in Doudou is a big teddy bear of a dog! Not only that, but in Mandarin Chinese, Dou means “bean” but when you double the word to Doudou, it generally means that bean is lovable. Doudou was originally brought to Pasadena Humane by her owner because she was fearful of strangers and other dogs. It has taken Doudou a little time to just get adjusted to being at the shelter and meeting staff and volunteers. Any adopter would need to be aware that going to a new home and meeting new people will call for patience, time, and love as Doudou learns to relax. An experienced German Shepherd Dog owner would be ideal for Doudoou. Our staff has reported that as she slowly relaxes, she becomes more willing to explore, hang out in our play yard, and approach staff for attention. Then she was fine with being petted and was even wlling to get brushed. We suspect there’s a lovable teddy bear just waiting to come out as part of her personality!
