Scrappy Takes the Stage

Scrappy 2

I adopted Scrappy in October of 2009. I went to Pasadena Humane Society after the loss of my cat “just to look”. I was initially interested in older dogs with the intent of giving an animal that might not find a forever home a loving environment. After looking at many animals and inquiring inside, I was pleasantly shocked to find out how many pets already had people interested in them. As I was going inside to talk to a counselor I noticed a little terrier in a kennel by himself. He didn’t have a sign with any info, so of course I was curious. I asked about the little dog. He was an owner surrender. I spoke with a counselor and they informed me that he wasn’t house broken, and wasn’t good on a leash. He had been there for a very short time. I asked if I could play or interact with him. The counselor took me into a room and shortly Scrappy was brought into meet me. It was immediately love at first sight, for some reason I knew he had to be my dog. The adoption process was so smooth and a breeze. I took him home that day.

He was the easiest ever to potty train, I’ve never had any problem with him having accidents, he’s very smart and outgoing. Since adopting Scrappy I’ve lived in two different states, CA and WA. I’ve registered him with the National Service dog Registry. I have severe allergies and an autoimmune disorder where I go into Anaphylaxis. Scrappy is trained to wake me up if this happens when I am sleeping. Scrappy has also been trained to perform!! He was in a production of Gypsy as Chowsie at Seattle Musical Theatre and he is currently performing in the Wizard of Oz at Glendale Centre Theatre as Toto.

This little boy is my world!! He loves tummy rubs, long walks and yard time. He gets so excited every time we come to the Theatre where he gets to see all of his friends. He went from a being a rescue to rescuing me. I can truly say we were meant to find each other and enrich each other’s lives. So, thank you Pasadena Humane Society for giving me my smart, talented loving little guy!!
