Sally & Crystal

Categories: Adoption Stories

Jennifer Taylor adopted two cats from PHS in October 2015, and wrote in to let us know about their lives together! Jennifer only wanted to adopt the hard to adopt cases, so she sought out older cats. Thank you Jennifer for giving our amazing older cats a great home! Jennifer’s story:

Crystal“I am 61 years old and discovered the Pasadena Humane Society’s Seniors for Seniors program. I had two previous cats for 16 and 17 years respectively, so I KNOW cats can live a long and active life.

“I started shopping the shelter’s website every day…

“…and found Crystal. She was 10 years old and her website photo looked like grumpy cat. She had been at the shelter for almost 3 months when I went in to meet her. I approached her quietly, extended my arm, and her face melted into my hand. She came home with me and is now queen of the house. Her favorite toy is a catnip-filled mouse that she flings high in the air and jumps up to catch. She stands guard looking out the front door window. She’s a little temperamental, so sometimes I call her Diva Kitty, but she is healthy and active and I could not be happier with my beautiful “senior” cat!

Sally“…and found Sally. She was 11 years old and her pictures looked like she was the saddest cat there. They tried a couple of pictures of her, but she just looked so sad in photographs! She had been at the shelter for 2 months when I went in to meet her. Those sad photos did not do her justice. She came home with me and she is absolutely the sweetest cat! She is also extremely active, uses my house as a racetrack, and likes to perch on the chairs and in the windows. It makes me happy every day that this beautiful, active “senior” girl came home with me!

“I decided to get two senior cats so they would be company for each other. I brought them home at the same time so they could come in as equals. Crystal tends to be more territorial although she can be very sweet! Sally is absolutely the sweetest cat in the world, and tends to let Crystal have her way, but will also stand up to her when she wants to. They worked it out. They are both beautiful and active. I am so happy that they will be with me for the rest of their days…and since they are indoor cats, there will be many of those ahead!”
