Barks and Books @ Lamanda Park Branch Library

Barks and Books is our reading enrichment program for children ages 5 to 12 that makes reading fun, boosts confidence and encourages respectful, humane treatment for all animals. It offers children the opportunity to read animal related short stories of their choice to dogs in our Companion Animal Program.

Puppy Social Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Behavior & Training Center

A drop in social hour for puppies between the ages of 2-6 months. This is the perfect opportunity to get your puppy socialized with other puppies in a safe and structured environment. Play interactions are managed and supervised by our trainers to ensure all puppies leave with a new positive experience.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per session; limited sessions are offered during the year

Class includes: Off leash supervised play and socialization with other puppies.

Fees: $8.00 for currently enrolled students; $10.00 for general public

Class capacity: No Limit

Training Workshop: Impulse Control @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA

Animal Adventurers: How to Greet a Dog @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA

Does your child love to meet dogs of all shapes and sizes? A dog trainer will help your child learn how to safely interact with dogs by teaching kids how to read dog body language, how to greet a new dog and how to safely play with your own dog at home. A pet-assisted therapy dog will be on hand for the children to put their new skills into practice. Your child will make a fun and educational poster illustrating how to greet a dog to take home. This month’s program is for children age 6-12.

Cat & Rabbit Nail Trimming Clinic @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's SNiP Clinic

We’ll do all the work, for an affordable price, so you and your furniture remain scratch free. All proceeds support the animals here at the shelter. Puppy Pre-School Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Education & Training Center

For puppies less than 4 months of age only. This class is designed for puppies under 4 months of age and allows owners to take advantage of their puppy’s critical socialization period. Puppies will learn how to respond to their name, get used to being handled and groomed and introduced to walking on leash. They will be introduced to everyday objects, obstacles and other stimulation that will equip them into the next stage of life. Puppies will also have the opportunity to socialize with other puppies in a safe and well managed environment. Owners will be given vital information on early prevention of problem behaviors such as mouthing, biting and house soiling.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Class includes: Homework, Problem Solving Handouts, and Certificate of Completion

Class capacity: 10 students

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be under 4 months of age on their first week of class and have had their first round of vaccinations 7 days prior to the start of class.You must provide proof of vaccination prior to the first day of class.
