Puppy Pre-School Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Education & Training Center
Sep 27 @ 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm

For puppies less than 4 months of age only. This class is designed for puppies under 4 months of age and allows owners to take advantage of their puppy’s critical socialization period. Puppies will learn how to respond to their name, get used to being handled and groomed and introduced to walking on leash. They will be introduced to everyday objects, obstacles and other stimulation that will equip them into the next stage of life. Puppies will also have the opportunity to socialize with other puppies in a safe and well managed environment. Owners will be given vital information on early prevention of problem behaviors such as mouthing, biting and house soiling.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Class includes: Homework, Problem Solving Handouts, and Certificate of Completion

Class capacity: 10 students

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be under 4 months of age on their first week of class and have had their first round of vaccinations 7 days prior to the start of class.You must provide proof of vaccination prior to the first day of class.

CLASS IS FULL — Basic Obedience Classes Begin @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA Education & Training Center

Basic Obedience is an introductory-level course designed to improve communication between you and your dog. This five-week course covers the essentials, including sit, down, stay, come and loose-leash walking. We will also problem solve behaviors such as jumping up, barking, chewing and destruction.

Date & Time: Tuesdays, September 27th – October 25th : 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks.

Fees: $130 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $65 for active PHS volunteers**

Course prerequisites: Dogs must be able to be handled by a friendly stranger and must be able to work safely around people and other dogs on leash.Dogs must not bark at other dogs when on leash.

CLASS IS FULL — Stop, Drop & Roll: Tricks! Classes Begin @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA Education & Training Center

Stop, Drop & Roll: Tricks! is designed to help you communicate with your canine companion and teach them some fun and useful tricks in the process. This five-week course will solidify the skills you learned in Basic Obedience and introduce fun and advanced tricks, which include shake, roll over, take a bow, crawl, and “wipe your feet,” to name a few.

Date & Time: Wednesdays, September 28th – October 26th: 5:45 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 6 weeks

Fees: $130 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $65 for active PHS volunteers**

Course prerequisites: Successful completion of an introductory-level training course such as Puppy Kindergarten or Basic ObedienceDogs cannot exhibit aggressiveness or excessive shyness towards people or other dogs.

Class capacity: 10 students

Class includes: Homework and Certificate of Completion

CLASS IS FULL — Reactive Rovers: Large Dog Classes Begin @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA Education & Training Center

For dogs over 40 lbs, any age. Our large dog Reactive Rovers specialty course is designed for dogs that bark at other dogs while on leash. Over five weeks, we will discuss reasons for dog reactivity and teach you how to respond when your dog becomes over-stimulated. While in our modified group class setting, we’ll teach and practice basic obedience cues including sit, down, stay and more. Opportunities will be given for you to work with your dog around distractions while desensitizing your dog to other dogs in class.

Date & Time: Thursdays, September 29th – November 3rd: 5:45 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. (No class October 27th)

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Fees: $130 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $65 for active PHS volunteers**

Class capacity: 6 students maximum

Class includes: Homework, Problem Solving Handouts, and Certificate of Completion

Puppy Social Session @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA's Behavior & Training Center
Oct 1 @ 9:30 am – 10:30 am

A drop in social hour for puppies between the ages of 2-6 months. This is the perfect opportunity to get your puppy socialized with other puppies in a safe and structured environment. Play interactions are managed and supervised by our trainers to ensure all puppies leave with a new positive experience.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per session; limited sessions are offered during the year

Class includes: Off leash supervised play and socialization with other puppies.

Fees: $8.00 for currently enrolled students; $10.00 for general public

Class capacity: No Limit

Puppy Kindergarten is an introductory-level course for puppies 4 to 6 months of age that focuses on puppy socialization and early training. This five-week covers obedience essentials such as sit, down, stay, come and loose leash walking. We will also problem solve typical puppy problem behaviors such as puppy mouthing, chewing, jumping up, and house soiling.

Date & Time: Saturdays, October 1st – October 29th: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Canine Good Citizen Prep Classes Begin @ Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA
Oct 1 @ 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

The Canine Good Citizen Program is a national program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. This class helps prepare dogs for CGC certification. Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA offers both practice and official testing with our own certified trainers.

Date & Time:  Saturdays, October 1st – October 29th: 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Frequency & Duration: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks

Fees: $130 for general registration; $110 for dogs adopted from PHS; $65 for active PHS volunteers**

Course prerequisites: You and your dog must have completed at least a Basic Obedience class and cannot exhibit aggressiveness or excessive shyness towards people or other dogs.

Class Capacity: 10 students

Class includes: Preparation and instruction prior to testing for certification (please call for details).
